Patagonia is arguably the world’s greatest fly-fishing destination, and Estancia Ranquilco is the best.
“Few, if any, Patagonian Rivers are undiscovered, i.e. unfished. Some rivers, however, are fished so seldom that they might as well be unfished… The Rio Trcomoan is one of these rivers… And it is full of rainbow trout…”
Argentine Trout Fishing, A Fly Fisherman’s Guide to Patagonia by William C. Leitch.

Purchased as a fly fishing lodge, and with privileged access to miles of private water on the Trocoman and Picunleo Rivers, Ranquilco is reminiscent of the fly-in lodges of Canada and the western U.S., where modern civilization is left far behind. With only a very few who have ever seen the rivers, it is not yet legendary, but is a rare hidden gem.

“The fishing was memorable, to say the least. The Trocoman is such a superior water, all the classic river runs that keep my feet in the water and mind on trout. Being able to spend days riverside is a primary earthly pleasure for me and I was fully and completely engaged and absorbed. Having my son with me made the experience all the more valuable.” Jeff, Canada, 2008

We limit fishing on the Trocoman to a privileged few each year. Our season begins in November and ends on the 15th of April.
A fishing vacation at Estancia Ranquilco includes transfers from the trailhead by horse, accommodation in one of our three guest cottages, The Castle Room, Dossie’s, or The Apartment, all food and wine, and unlimited fishing. Please note, while we have some fly tying equipment, you must bring all your own rods, lines, ties, and flies.
Price per person, per night, for unguided fishing, is $300 (children under 12, half price), with a 7-day minimum stay. To reserve your fishing vacation, e-mail T. A. Carrithers at: tac.ranquilco@gmail.com.
